"Peoria's oldest congregation, of which William Atkinson Young is pastor, has been served continuously since its organization in 1834 by only twelve ministers. The present structure, over half a century old, was built during the pastorate of the famous Newell Dwight Hillis, later successor of Henry Ward Beecher."
